The Summer Youth Program, for students ages 5 through 18, offers one- and two-week enrichment workshops throughout the summer in the areas of technology, computers, multimedia, writing, art, math, science, literature, gaming, the Internet, study skills, and social skills.
Summer programs for advanced students, offered through SMU's Gifted Students Institute, include College Experience and the Talented and Gifted (TAG) program. College Experience is a unique five-week summer program that allows a small and carefully chosen group of highly motivated and academically able high school students to get a head start on college and a taste of campus life. TAG is a three-week residential summer program that offers intellectual challenges and exciting learning experiences to academically accelerated students completing the seventh, eighth, or ninth grade.
Pre-college Programs offers Girls Talk Back: Making Yourself Heard, an exciting one-week summer camp for young women entering the 11th grade, provides opportunities to enhance communication skills through writing, public speaking, and professional etiquette classes
SMU Athletics offers Summer Sports Camps for kids in grades K-12; sports typically featured include swimming, basketball, soccer, tennis, track, volleyball, and football.
The Lyle School of Engineering also offers an Engineering Camp for Girls, which exposes its participants to new and exciting technology and engineering concepts and introduces them to fun and rewarding careers in engineering.
