Description

Chastain Mist is located in Olympia, WA. We offer a plethora of equestrian activities for the horse enthusiast (for girls, boys, and adults) including day camp, overnight camp, riding lessons, trail rides, birthday parties, adult camps, girl scout camps, and more. To learn about our overnight summer camp for girls only, read on. To learn about anything else, click on the links at the left of this page.

Our overnight camp is an all girls equestrian immersion camp where the entire focus is that of horses and riding. Riders have the chance to ride 4 hours a day and have a horse to call their own (ExeQ Camp) or 2 hours a day and share a horse with 1 other camper (Happy Camper Camp). The time during the day that is not spent riding is spent WITH horses, either training, grooming, driving, vaulting, etc. This is an IMMERSION camp, where non horse activities take a MAJOR back seat! This is not a traditional camp with a few hours of horse time. This is a HORSE camp. Because like you, we LOVE horses! As for educating the young rider, this camp is unparalleled. Riders learn, through hands on experience, every aspect of horsemanship, using the most natural techniques, focusing on quiet, invisible communication. Chastain Mist Summer Camp enhances skills and develops the complete rider by emphasizing the importance of a horse's physical as well as mental well being.

It just keeps getting better! In 2009 we will be offering two types of camp, the Happy Camper and the Exclusive Equestrian (ExeQ). Visit our "Camps" page to read more! We are very excited to be able to bring you an even more fabulous summer

The website touts gourmet organic meals,a plethora of activities, gift shop with healthy snack options and quality merchandise, high quality riding etc.We paid for the camp with 4 hrs of riding, personal horse for the week, swimming, hiking, trail rides, and supposedly much more. There was only soda and candy for sale in the gift shop(nothing else),my daughter had to share a horse and only logged 2-2.5 hours of riding per day, the food was horrible(counselors actually ordered their food from restaurants),and the girls could not have seconds(2 salads in a week and no fresh fruit is definitely not my idea of healthy),and the majority of counselors were young and chose their favorite riders and catered to them.We flew our daughter in from out of state and paid quite a lot for this camp experience. There were no extra activities aside from one archery experience and one trail ride. Not only is the quality missing but this camp is highly misrepresented online.

They have unsafe horses, and did not get nearly as much ride time as promised. This was a horrible camp experience for me. I wanted to go home the entire time. DON'T GO. I went last year.
