DescriptionThe first camp was held in June, 1990, and proved to be a great success. Since that time, over 900 deserving children have laughed, learned and loved the camp. Camp week is filled with a wide range of activities, from nature hikes and sports, to fun-filled evening campfire programs. In 1998, the camp became accredited by the American Camp Association. This nationally-recognized program focuses on all quality, health and safety issues. The camp has earned this mark of distinction. For many years, the Lions of District 46 were aware of the need for a major service project that would provide a common benefit to residents throughout the region. In 1988, the Lions conceived the idea of a week-long summer camp for children of families of modest financial income who would not be able to afford an expensive private camp. The Elko Lions Club runs the facility in Lamoille Canyon in the spectacular Ruby Mountains in eastern Nevada which is the location of Camp Dat-So-La-Lee. Details
