Formed in 1984 by a handful of producers and performers as a forum for communication and discussion of issues facing all segments of the Greater Boston theatre community, StageSource incorporated in 1985 as a non-profit member service organization. Currently led by Executive Director Jeff Poulos and a Board of Directors comprised of leaders throughout the Greater Boston theatre community, StageSource is a community of individual artists and organizations working to make New England a thriving place for theatres and theatre artists. Membership with StageSource, the Greater Boston Theatre Alliance, has been one of the most effective ways to access the best job and class opportunities as well as the best creative and technical personnel our region has to offer.
StageSource has grown to now serve over 2000 individual theatre artists working both onstage and off in all six New England states and New York, and over 250 organizational members operating from Western Massachusetts to upstate Maine. Individual members range in age (from five to eighty-six), ethnicities, and ability levels, and organizations range from classical theatre to experimental, from large institutional theatres to smaller start-up and community theatre companies. The audiences they serve are as diverse as their repertoire. StageSource is located in downtown Boston and is run by staff, hundreds of member volunteers and advisory committees representing our members, contributing to StageSource's unique success.
