The Mission of Camp Elk Shoals: 

To be a unique environment where all of God's People have the opportunity to have fun while enjoying some of the many wonders of His Creation as seen in their natural environment.

Being located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Camp experienced some record-shattering winter weather this year.  Twenty-two inches of snow fell on December 18th, and one month later, a LOT of it was still on the ground (because of several other much smaller snow "storms," and because the temperature very rarely got above 32 degrees).  In fact, the temperature stayed in single digits right many nights....which caused the river to freeze over.  The picture to the left is of the frozen river at the Camp bridge....but the pictures of this area when the ice started thawing are even more spectacular!

For individuals, couples, families and groups (...both large and small): Elk Shoals offers the outdoor enthusiast and nature-lover a multitude of activities that almost guarantees there will never be a dull moment. Obviously, being located on the South Fork of the New River means that a lot of the activities center around this second oldest river in the world. However, being in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina means we are just the place too get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
