Camp Nonesuch is a coed day camp serving children ages 7 (and/or having completed first grade) to 14. We also offer a "counselor-in-training" program for children who are 14 and 15 years old. The two-year CIT program requires CIT's to be at camp for at least four weeks in each of the two years.
Owned and operated by The Rivers School, the camp was founded in 1980 by a group of faculty members from The Rivers School. Formerly Camp Mary Day of the Newton Girl Scout Council, the camp is located on Indian Rock Drive on the Natick-Weston town line. Geographically the camp occupies 13 wooded acres of land and utilizes Nonesuch Pond, a 57-acre Great Pond for its swimming, fishing, and boating activities.
Guiding Principles and Philosphy:
• to provide a variety of stimulating and educationally sound experiences that support social and physical growth.
• to develop individual skills through each child’s personal motivation.
• to create a supportive atmosphere of happy learning and recreation.
• to stimulate exploration and adventure through individual and group challenges while developing insight into cooperation and decision making.
• to promote a sense of personal pride through the recognition of individual strengths and the accomplishments of newly gained skills.
Camp Nonesuch is unique in that our program is entirely elective in nature. Children, with parental guidance and consent, choose activities that they would like to do during the session that they are enrolled in camp. Our two-week sessions provide campers with the opportunity to learn an activity from beginning to end.
Camp Nonesuch admits campers of any race, color, religious affiliation, nationality, or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges and activities that the camp generally makes available.
