Description

Welcome to Legacy Horse Training at Unali’yi Farm. We promise to give you and your horse “Roots to Grow and Wings to Fly”. We offer natural horsemanship training for both people and horses. We do not believe in gadgets or treats, only effective communication between trainer, rider, or owner and horse. If you have a horse that needs training, or would like to learn natural horsemanship in a fun family environment, call us. Jamie is a certified horse trainer with special training in kinesiology, biomechanics, and coaching. Please pardon our dust while we work on bringing you a brand new site which should be up and running soon. In the meantime, check out this temporary site and if you need to get in touch with us, please call Jamie Dodson at (540) 661-9990, email her at jamie [at] legacyhorsetraining.com, or use our handy-dandy email form.

Legacy Horse Training, founded in 2005, is on a mission to bring a relaxed and fun atmosphere to horsemanship. Using a gentle, common sense approach, horses and people are trained to respond to one another in a consistent and respectful manner that allows the owner and horse to establish a true bond that is based in mutual trust. Through the exclusive “Roots to Grow, Wings to Fly” program, students are given the skills to feel confident in the horse-human relationship. Legacy Horse Training promotes a relaxed and comfortable family atmosphere, hoping that there are no “clients,” only new friends.

Generally, the day begins with being greeted by the dogs and cats who have been anxiously awaiting your arrival. Buster the Goat will run at first, but he’ll warm up eventually. As the day begins Jamie, Cara, Christina, and Craig take turns preparing and training the day’s scheduled horses. We may find ourselves in the round pen, doing ground work, in the arena, or on a trail ride. On a typical day, we work 6 to 10 horses. Feel free to come observe training, just call so we know you’re coming. We’d hate to be on the trail when you arrive.

We’ll introduce you to everyone, both human and horse.
