Description

Since 1980, The Johnson Martial Arts Center was founded by Grandmaster Collins Johnson, a world certified black belt in Korean, Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do., Okinawan Weapons, Forms , Self Defense, by the Great Grandmaster Kim who was Chairman in the United States for Korean Tang Soo Do and Tae Know Do.  Grandmaster Johnson also trained with the Jhoon Rhee Institute of Tae Kwon Do, Master Hwang Tae Kwon Do, Sensei Adolphus Williams in Kyokushinkai Japanese Karate, Judo with Sensei Glenn. 


For over 40 years, Grandmaster Johnson has been involved in the martial arts of Korean Karate, Japanese Karate, Judo, Aikido, and has studied self Defense from the following:   The Late Grandmaster Nakayama, who was President of the Japanese Karate Association, The Late Donn Draeger, The Late Dan Ivan.


In 2004 and again in 2007, he was inducted by peer nomination, into the U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Fame (Original Hall of Fame begun by The Late Robert Trias, who was first to bring Karate to America back in the 1940s.)


In May 2008, he was inducted into Grandmaster Y. K. Kim's Martial Art World Hall of Fame at the Grand Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Florida.


Grandmaster Johnson holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and a Master of Education from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut plus 24 semester hours in Secondary School Administration, toward a second Masters Degree.


He taught 6th grade, all subjects, and units in the secondary sciences involving earth science, biology, chemistry and physics, on the secondary level of public school.  He was also a secondary school administrator for two years.  He also sold computer and word processing equipment for Xerox, AM International, A.B. Dick Company, National Cash Register companies before opening the Johnson Martial Arts Center.


The Center has over 30 certified black belts and  personal trainers and  offers instruction in traditional Korean Karate, Okinawan Weapons, Self Defense, Kickboxing, Aerobic Kickboxing, Summer Day Camp, After School Program, Personal Training Programs and Certification for Fitness Trainers.
