South River High School’s athletic programs teach adolescents it takes hard work to achieve a goal, and individuals must put forth their best effort and work as a team. They also teach communication, leadership, and life fitness.
South River High School Sports Booster Club provides uniforms and facility improvement to support the 31 athletic teams at South River High School in Edgewater, Maryland. The Booster Club ensures every team is provided with the uniforms and equipment necessary to play at a competitive level. The Club also raises funds to provide safe and adequate facilities for the school’s athletes, visiting teams and spectators. One of the recent major purchases included new stadium seating to accommodate the expanded student body after redistricting to include neighboring Crofton residents, doubled the school population to nearly 2,200 teens. This stadium project required a substantial loan. It is our goal this year to raise enough funds to pay off the loan or pay it down significantly. We’d also like to fund some much-needed improvements to the facilities, and provide our athletes with new uniforms and equipment. Contrary to popular belief, these items are not funded by the County, but by the Booster club.
