East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP) gives kids the opportunities they would have if they were born 20 blocks south. And, we’ve been doing it for more than 50 years. We teach reading and math, provide one-to-one tutoring, prepare kids for college, help them get accepted, and build the social skills they’ll need to succeed. We also get kids through college and ready for the real world.

EHTP-UP Summer Institute is a vital program for incoming freshmen and high school students. The five-week program focuses on college preparation and offers specific, advanced areas of study based upon students’ interests.  Summer Institute provides programs not offered at our students’ schools—and certainly not available to them over the summer months. Summer Institute students have life-changing experiences that influence their educational paths and career goals in positive ways. As in previous years, the 2010 Summer Institute will include two full weeks for participants to travel together to University of Virginia (UVA), where they reside in campus dorms, take classes and work on group projects.
