DescriptionThe Princeton Tennis Program, one of the nations oldest community tennis associations, was founded in 1954 by Eve Kraft and John Conroy,. Mission: The Princeton Tennis Program is, by tradition and choice, a year-round, non -profit organization for children and adults of Princeton and surrounding communities. As a tennis association, we pursue a standard of excellence in teaching that encourages the development of health, character, good sportsmanship and responsible citizenship. The program seeks broad based community participation by subsidizing lesson fees and establishing scholarships. Whenever possible, the program will provide assistance and support to other groups and communities. PTP conducts a year-round program leasing courts in the Princeton area. In addition PTP works closely with the USTA and offers leagues, team tennis, and sanctioned tournaments as well as special programs to other groups, such as seniors, wheelchair players, and school children. Over fifty thousand people have participated in instructional, competitive and social tennis programs offered by PTP. In addition to our website, PTP does a mailing to ~60,000 families in the area. This mailing is done three times per year and invites new and existing players to participate in our progams. We conduct 2 summer camps divided by age (and location), and offer a top-notch tournament training program. In all, PTP has over 3000 participants each year and enjoys a reputation of being an excellent teaching program. PTP has been named Organization of Year by the USTA/NJ district and Middle States section in 2000 and in 1999 we were 1 of just 8 organizations nationwide to be recognized for our outstanding achievement in USA tennis programming.
