Rice women's tennis coach Elizabeth Schmidt will welcome one of the top ranked players in Texas in the fall as Kimberly Anicete of Spring Klein High School will enroll at Rice for the 2010-11 academic year. "Kim has a tremendous work ethic and is a fierce competitor," Schmidt said. "She was instrumental in Klein High School reaching the 5A state finals this fall and really understands the importance of being a team player. We are really looking forward to Kim joining us at Rice and becoming an integral part of our team." Anicete was listed as a five-star recruit and has been ranked as high as 45th nationally by Tennisrecruiting.net as well as consistently ranking in the top five in Texas. She led Spring Klein to the finals of the UIL 5A Team Tennis State Championship last fall before falling to New Braunfels in the title match. Anicete will join a Rice squad that closed out the year with a 14-9 record and a 48 national ranking, just missing a berth in the NCAA Championship.
