DescriptionSonia Bokhari of Lake Hiawatha, N.J. has committed to play her college career at the University of Louisville. "I am happy to announce the addition of Sonia Bokhari to the Women's Tennis team," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham. "I think Sonia will fit in well with what I am building here. She is another piece of the core players that will help us contend for high national rankings and NCAA bids. Sonia comes from the Eastern section of the U.S. where she is ranked in the top five and has multiple wins over players ranked ahead of her. The Eastern section turns out very good college players every year." Bokhari is a Four Star recruit and ranks third in the state of New Jersey in singles. She won three high school county tournaments and two Eastern Sectional doubles tournaments. Sonia made history for Parsippany High School by winning two county tournaments in a row. The right-hander also won the 2010 USTA Sportsmanship award and was her high school's Athlete of the Year. By being an all conference champion, Sonia was selected for the for the 2009 FED Cup in California where she did well. "Sonia is an aggressive baseliner and likes moving forward for volleys," said Beckham. "She will fit in very well with how we want to play here. She will impact the line-up next year whether it is singles, doubles or both. She will definitely help us win a lot of matches next year." Details
