STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut continues to meet the standards in all 24 of its sports programs in the latest NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) report which was released on Wednesday afternoon.

The report is based upon a compilation of data from the 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09 academic years. The APR is intended as a four-year rate of measure, aggregating four years of data to produce one rate. This year marks the third time that the release of figures included a full four-year sample and UConn continues to meet the APR standard in all of its 24 sports. Beginning this year, the NCAA has released a one-year rate (2008-09) in addition to the four-year rolling average.

"Our student-athletes and coaches have once again demonstrated their commitment to our academic mission at UConn," says Director of Athletics Jeffrey A. Hathaway. "I am extremely proud of our student-athletes for their ongoing achievements both academically and athletically. Bruce Cohen and his staff in the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletes have an integral role in this academic success through their counseling efforts and continued support of the student-athletes. I am thankful to all who are involved in achieving these outstanding results."

Four UConn teams were singled-out nationally by the NCAA with a "Public Recognition Award". Those squads were the men's golf, women's soccer and men's and women's tennis programs. These awards are given to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in their respective sport within the APR. All four of those teams had perfect multi-year APR score of 1000.

Three other UConn programs reached a nearly perfect score on the report as the women's lacrosse team had a 994, women's cross country had a 991, and the NCAA national champion women's basketball team had a 990.
