Coach Fortner is without a doubt one of the most prolific and successful coaches in college women's basketball. Her success at the collegiate, professional and international levels is unmatched. Coach Fortner is finishing her sixth season at the helm of the Auburn Tigers. Each season has brought more success and excitement to the program. The Tigers last season brought home the 1st SEC regular season Championship in 20 years and Coach Fortner was named the SEC Coach of the Year. She has coached the Tigers to three-straight 20-win seasons and a 30-win season, Auburn's first in 20 years. In 2000, Fortner led Team USA to a gold medal at the Sydney Olympics. She also spent three seasons as the head coach and GM of the WNBA's Indiana Fever.
Coach Fortner's college head coaching career began at Purdue University, where in her one season, the team won a share of the Big Ten title. She was named National Coach of the Year that season as well as Big Ten Coach of the Year. While coaching in the WNBA, Coach Fortner lent her expertise to ESPN as a studio analyst.
