The Mid-Hudson Valley Camp is an American Camp Association accredited summer camp that serves a diverse group of people. What started as a one-week summer session for children with disabilities in the 1970s has blossomed into a nine-week camp program that caters to the needs of children and adults with developmental, mental, and physical disabilities, deaf children, children living with cancer, pediatric patients from Harlem Hospital’s Family Care Center, and inner-city students. For over 35 years, the camp has served hundreds of persons with disabilities and continues to provide children, teens, and adults with a joy-filled summer camp experience.

From camp directors to kitchen crew, our camps are staffed solely by volunteers. The young men and women we rely on to assist us generously take time out of their hectic schedules, sacrificing summer jobs and personal vacation time, to ensure that every camper has a counselor to rely on and a meal to eat, that the campers have fun activities and events to partake in, and that our facilities remain clean and functioning. Thanks to our countless volunteers, the Esopus tradition of serving the neediest of people continues to burgeon at the Esopus property. All the while, our volunteers gain many intangible gifts in return. Perhaps inspired and influenced by their work at The Mid-Hudson Valley Camp, many of our staff members go on to careers in education, counseling, and civil service fields. With a dedicated and reliable all-volunteer staff who continue to come back year after year, we can ensure that our counselors have the campers best interests at heart and are not financially driven, helping to create an environment of acceptance, peace, and unconditional love that has come to define The Mid-Hudson Valley Camp.
