DescriptionKids need to get away from it all, too. Especially inner city kids. But many families cannot afford to send their children to summer camp. For more than 75 years, Camp Wonderland has provided an affordable solution. The purpose of Salvation Army camping experience is to serve the needs of campers: physical, social, and spiritual.
We aim to help children develop good health habits in cleanliness, proper rest, balanced diet, exercise and care of the body.
To meet social needs the camp provides an opportunity for each camper to contribute to and benefit from a group living experience. The aim is to help campers make their own right decisions, stimulate creativity and foster independence.
To nurture campers spiritually they are encouraged to seek God through His creation and daily devotional times. Camp Wonderland features a spacious dining hall, rustic cabins that house a total of 215 campers per session, and a health unit staffed with medical personnel on duty and always available. Nondenominational services are held each morning in our chapel to start the day with inspiration. The Salvation Army also provides Day Camp programs and Vacation Bible Study to maintain a ministry to children in their home communities throughout the summer. Details
