DescriptionCrossroads for Kids is dedicated to creating a safe and caring community where young people from at-risk environments discover a sense of belonging and a passion for life. With our summer camp programs as the starting point, we provide life-changing experiences and year-round support that builds trust and healthy relationships kids can count on throughout their childhood, teenage years and beyond. Our intentional programs and community partnerships open doors to new resources and opportunities that inspire and empower young people to fulfill their unique potential. Crossroads for Kids was founded in 1936 by Arthur Taylor Burger, Executive Director of Boys Clubs of Boston, and other Boys Clubs Trustees and prominent business men under the name Boys and Girls Camps. The goal was to provide children living the Boston Metro area with the opportunity to enjoy a camp experience and the associated benefits and character development of an intentional residential camp experience. Over the years the organization grew to include three sites, and has truly become a lasting and life-changing force in the lives of the youth who attend our programs. In 1998 we changed our name to Crossroads for Kids to better reflect the comprehensive services we offer and in 2002 began expanding our programs year-round. We have spent more than seven decades watching kids leave camp at the end of the summer knowing that they have found a very special place where they feel capable, unique, valued and successful. Through our year-round programs we bring that special place to their daily lives which are often laden with challenges that are difficult for a child to successfully face on their own. Crossroads for Kids has the unique ability to be a constant force in their lives, the same friendly faces in the summer and the school-year, teaching them how to swim and helping them with their homework, leading them in camp songs and talking them through a difficult day in school.
