This upcoming summer looks to be one of our best summers ever! This summer we will have great
experiences and new memories for all of our campers. YMCA Camp Mataucha campers will enjoy our
new facility improvements including two brand new pavilions and a 600 person amphitheater! Our facility
enhancements along with our top staff and our participation with American Camp Association will allow
us to deliver one the most memorable summer camp experiences for our campers in the state.
This summer we will continue to focus on nurturing and enrichment activities that will further develop each
of our camper’s growth in spirit, mind and body. Our camp is a unique integration of diverse populations
where all campers will be inspired to make new friends and experience new activities during their time at
YMCA Camp Mataucha.
Even though the face of our camp has changed from last summer to this summer, our commitment to
provide each camper and their family with a safe, fun and high quality program led by our “Professional
Role Models” never changes. We look forward to serving your family this summer at YMCA Camp Mataucha!
Professional Role Models
All of our staff are hand selected based on experience, attitude, as well
as their ability to accept and demonstrate the positive values of caring,
honesty, respect and responsibility. These “Professional Role Models” are
fun and energetic people who are dedicated to working with campers and
inspiring them to form friendships, experience new adventures and create
lasting memories.
YMCA Mission
To put Christian principals into practice through programs that
develop a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Every counselor and staff member at YMCA Camp Mataucha holds
a current certification in First Aid and all unit leaders, bus monitors,
specialty camp staff and senior staff members also hold certifications
in CPR. We have a certified First Aid Provider that is on camp property
throughout the entire day, and we have a local physician as a consultant.
Licensing Standards
YMCA Camp Mataucha is licensed by the State of Connecticut and
is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). The ACA
collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the
American Red Cross and other youth service agencies to ensure that
current practices at our camps reflect the most up-to-date, researchbased
standards in day camping operations. Camps and the ACA form a
partnership that promotes summers of growth and fun in an environment
committed to safety. We are proud to say that we meet or exceed all of
their standards.
