DescriptionGirl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania (GSEP) serves over 41,000 girls ages five through 17 in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, and Philadelphia Counties. GSEP was chartered on May 1, 2007. We are a volunteer-based non-profit organization with over 14,000 adult volunteers. Girl Scouts of the United States of America was founded on March 12, 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low. Nationally, nearly four million girls and adult volunteers enjoy the Girl Scout experience. Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, an “early adopter” of the realignment movement led by GSUSA, was created by a merger on April 28, 2007 between the Girl Scouts of Freedom Valley, Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Great Valley Councils. The merger became effective on May 1. Thirty days later, the new Board of Directors convened for a three-day retreat to set forth the strategic goals for the new Council. Out of that retreat came five high-level goals to guide the work of the Council over the next year, and beyond. Details
