DescriptionMeadow Breeze Day Camp runs from 9 – 3:45 daily, although there is extended day available on either end from 7 – 6:30. The campers are divided into groups by age and gender. Each group has at least two college-aged counselors, most of who are LCA or Meadow Breeze alumni. They use an air-conditioned classroom as their home base. Together as a group, the counselors and campers move through a full day of planned activities including: creating artwork in the studios, taking group tennis and swimming lessons, climbing on the rock wall, playing soccer, developing ball & sports skills, and archery. Each day, campers also have “Creatives” which includes a variety of academically oriented things using nature, the science lab, Bible themes, and internet resources. There is built-in time for snacks and lunch as well as some rest and free-choice. In the late afternoon, there are specialty camps offered in drama, pottery, soccer and wrestling. In addition, private tennis and swim lessons are offered.
Children’s safety is paramount at Meadow Breeze Camp. All staff are CORI'ed. All campers must provide a current physical form. Allergies are noted and posted in the kitchen, nurse’s office and in appropriate classrooms. Swim classes are offered by certified lifeguards. A nurse is always on-site. LCA and Meadow Breeze are intertwined. LCA coach and physical education teacher Tim Slighter has directed the Camp and overseen the Swim & Tennis Club for more than 30 years. Some teachers work at the camp. Many campers become LCA students and then when they are young adults, they return to Meadow Breeze as counselors and lifeguards. The commitment to excellence and the sense of community that permeate LCA, also permeate Meadow Breeze.
