Serving children 6 to 10 years old, Emerald Cove Day Camp is committed to shaping the social, emotional, physical and spiritual lives of children through old-fashioned fun in a safe and nurturing environment. Campers will come away from their two-week experience with greater friendship and teamwork skills, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of God’s love.

Emerald Cove Day Camp grew out of the highly respected and accredited Yosemite Sierra Summer Camp in Bass Lake, California. ECDC was established in response to numerous requests for a local program for children who are not yet ready for a sleep away experience. ECDC incorporates many of the cherished aspects of the 36-year old Yosemite Sierra Summer Camp, along with some new traditions and programming, to create a one-of a-kind day camp for young children.

ECDC is based in charming San Juan Capistrano on the campus of Saddleback Valley Christian School. Conveniently located off the 5 Freeway at Junipero Serra, this facility ideally provides outdoor play and gathering spaces, along with air conditioned venues for warmer weather.

ECDC's program seeks to help children grow socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually. It is built around well- paced small and large group activities with high staff interaction and encouragement. Campers "learn through play" as they engage in a variety of activities such as archery, adventure and water games, team sports, horses, nature study, creative arts, and fieldtrips.

Veteran camp director Ron Eckert serves as associate director and provides on-site management for ECDC. A former teacher and youth worker, Ron received his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is uniquely gifted in designing programs for children and in shepherding staff. Ron and his wife Heather are also involved at San Clemente Presbyterian Church and live in San Clemente with their daughter Rosie and golden retriever Wrigley.

Having personally experienced the powerful growth possible in the summer camp setting, these camp leaders together bring more than 45 years of camping experience to Emerald Cove Day Camp.
