This is the website of Peniel--a Center for Prayer and Renewal, a year-round Christian conference and retreat center located in the town of Lake Luzerne in the picturesque Adirondack Park region of northeastern New York.

The purpose of Peniel is to promote renewal through union with Christ, focusing on biblical instruction in godliness and emphasizing prayer, worship, small group participation, and individualized attention. Our prayer is that every person who comes to Peniel as a guest or as a staff member will truly meet God face to face and will experience the transformation and the anchoring in life that can come only through active fellowship with God.

The purpose of Peniel is to promote renewal through teaching the saving work of Christ, and to present Him as the one who lives, reigns and daily transforms the lives of his people.  Our ministry emphasizes the centrality of the cross and resurrection of Christ; our union with Him in death and in resurrection life; the continuing work of the Holy Spirit to illumine the scriptures and conform us to the image of Christ; ways in which our union with Christ enables us to overcome sin in our lives and the assaults of the evil one.

Peniel is a community whose mission is to encourage and equip individuals and families for lives of joyful obedience to Christ as committed members of His church and to prepare them for leadership in local congregations and beyond.

Our main emphases include:

1. The glory, holiness, love and grace of the Triune God.


2. The reality and depth of our sin.


3. The necessity and joy of knowing Jesus Christ as Savior and Master.


4. Our union with Christ in His death and resurrection and in His victory over Satan and the guilt and power of sin.


5. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit Who sanctifies, helps, guides and comforts, both individually and corporately.


6. The role of Scripture and Spirit-led prayer to promote personal growth and a fruitful walk with God.


7. Our need to resist the devil in the name and power of Christ.


8. The call to be loving agents of reconciliation and peace in the church and in the world.
