Five Huskies were honored for their academics today by the Pac-10 Conference, led by All-Academic First Team members Tobi Obenaus and Alex Rosinski. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and be a significant contributor on the court.

Only Washington and Stanford had multiple honorees on the eight-member First Team. This is the second First Team honor in a row for Obenaus, and will go nicely with his ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team honor announced two weeks ago. Obenaus, a junior, sports a 3.93 cumulative GPA in accounting, the second-best GPA in the conference. ...

Husky women's tennis standouts Venise Chan and Denise Dy were both named All-Americans today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, putting a cap on two of the best individual seasons in UW history.

Chan and Dy both earned the honor in singles play. Players can also earn doubles All-America awards. Washington was one of just six programs with two singles All-Americans along with California, Baylor, Florida, UCLA, and Miami. Even NCAA Champion Stanford had just one singles All-American. ...

The Columbia men's tennis team dropped their first round match in the NCAA tournament to #22 Wake Forest, 4-0 Saturday. The match took place at the Snyder Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Virginia. 


Wake Forest won the doubles point, and then three singles matches at Nos. 2, 3 and 4 in quick succession to defeat the Lions, 4-0. The rest of the matches were suspended when the team score was decided. ...
